Menshova Irina V.

PhD, associate professor

In 1989 she graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics of Irkutsk State University. In 2013 she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in the specialty “01.02.04 – Mechanics of Deformable Solids”. The thesis title was “Analytical solutions to two-dimensional boundary value problems of the theory of elasticity in finite domains with corner points of the boundary”.

Since 2014 she has been working at the Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IEPT RAS) as a senior researcher.

Teaching activities: From 1989 to 1995, she worked as an assistant and a senior lecturer at the Department of Higher Mathematics of Bratsk Industrial Institute (now Bratsk State University), from 2000 to 2016 – as a senior lecturer and an associate professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics of Moscow State Open University (now Moscow Polytechnic University), since 2016 – as an associate professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Her research interests are related to the construction of analytical solutions to boundary value problems of the theory of elasticity in finite canonical domains: basic and mixed problems, problems with discontinuities. The ongoing research is devoted to the so-called biharmonic problem, which is associated with many important applied sciences, for example, the theory of elasticity, the theory of the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid, some questions of field theory and aether theory, as well as an important problem of the mechanics of deformable solids – the theory of residual stresses. The aims of the research are: analyzing the features of solutions to boundary value problems of the theory of elasticity in finite domains and their difference from classical solutions; modeling discontinuities in the earth’s crust on the basis of new mathematical models for finite canonical domains.

She is the author and co-author of more than 40 scientific papers in leading Russian and international peer-reviewed scientific journals, including one monograph.
