The October, 1986 M=8.3 Kermadec earthquake epicenter falls inside the M8 TIP (highlighted circles) in progress from July 1986 through January 1991 inside CI##5-8 (Table of CIs for M8.0+) and inside the area (highlighted rectangular areas) where it was more likely to occur according to the MSc algorithm. The diamond marks location of an unusual swarm of 11 earthquakes with magnitude 5.0 or more, which happened four months in advance of the Kermadec earthquake.
